Geiger "Gig" GILLILAND, 74, owner of Gilliland's Auto Machine Co., 115 E. Fourth St., for 53 years, died unexpectedly at 10:05 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn hospital following a heart attack. He resided on Old U.S. 31 a mile north of Rochester.
A lifetime resident of Rochester, he was born Oct. 29, 1905 to Reuben and Edith GILLILAND. He was married Dec. 25, 1939 in Rochester to Viola Virginia PERDUE, who survives. He was a member of the Avion Travel Club and of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a former director.
Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) CRISSINGER, Rochester three sons, Thomas "Sonny" PERDUE, Dean PERDUE and Richard "Dick" GILLILAND, all of Rochester; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Orville "Pete" (Mary) HARTZLER, Rochester. A son, a daughter, three brothers and a sister preceded in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Morris HOWELL officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Monday until time of services. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund.
