John Dahmen, 64

John "Jack" Nicholas Dahmen, a resident of Cass Lake, died unexpectedly Oct. 24, 2008, in an accident.

Jack was born July 13, 1944, in Onamia, the son of Alois and Marguerite (Buesseler) Dahmen. He spent his growing up years in Minneapolis, graduating from North High School. Following high school he continued living in the Twin Cities area working various jobs as a machinist. In 2002, he moved to Cass Lake where he has lived until the present. Jack was a beloved father, son, brother and grandfather, who always had a smile and a good word for everyone. He never missed a day doing crossword puzzles, and always had a jig saw puzzle in process. Bowling was his favorite hobby and he also enjoyed time spent fishing. Jack always looked forward to his daily time spent with friends. He will be remembered as a man who thought of others needs before his own, and who saw the best in everyone. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his mother Marge Dahmen of Pierz; two sons Steven Dahmen (Angi) of Hackensack and Scott Dahmen (Janice) of Federal Dam; four brothers Jim Dahmen (Diane) of Lawrenceville, Ga., Ted Dahmen (Ginnie) of Elk River, Steve Dahmen (Cindy) of Elk River, and Tom Dahmen of Menahga; 11 grandchildren Brandi, Tia, Scottie, Matthew, Nicole, Jordan, Katie, Emily, Jade, Nakita, and Paris, and many in his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake with Father Anselm Thevarkunnel officiating. A gathering time will precede the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
