Obit: Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Dow City at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon for Mrs. William "Jeff" Cook, 49, who died Friday, July 10, 1959, at the Denison Hospital. Elder Raymond Butterworth officiated at the service. Burial was in the Dow City Cemetery under direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison. Pallbearers were Bryce Argotsinger, Paul Argotsinger, Vincent Argotsinger, Fred Baber, Robert Custer and John Weiss. She is survived by her husband, a son Joseph Cook of Humboldt, Nebraska, daughter Mrs. Bruce (Betty) Moeller of Omaha, Nebraska. Her husband was unable to attend the service as he is a patient in the hospital at Iowa City. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Brice and Valerie Moeller, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thompson of Dow City, three brothers, Fred of Gardenia, California, Don of Wilcox, Arizona, and Emmett of Dow City, two sisters, Mrs. Fancheon (Jessie) Quick of Dow City, and Mrs. James (Alberta) Buck of Oronogo, Missouri. A brother Burton preceded her in death. Berniece Thompson Cook was born April 11, 1910, in Shelby Co., Iowa, and died July 10, 1959, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 49 years, 2 months and 29 days. She was the third child born to Joseph Thompson and Myrtle Pett. She lived with her parents on the same farm where she was born until her marriage to William Jefferson Cook of Dunlap on November 11, 1928. Most of her life was spent in and around the Dow City vicinity except for ten years on the west coast and in Omaha.
