Mrs. Alice McDowell
Mrs. Alice M. McDowell, 84, of 812 Dresden Ave., widow of Samuel McDowell, died Thursday at 4 p.m. at City Hospital after an illness of five months. She was born in Pittsburgh June 27, 1882, daughter of the late Jacob Kuckert and Elizabeth Jay Kuckert. She had resided here virtually her lifetime. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the Navy Mothers Club for 24 years and was a past commander and had served as chaplain up to the time of her illness. Her husband died in 1942. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Menough in 1966. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hanna of North Canton, Mrs. Florence Tullys of Alliance and Mrs. Jean Zirillo of Wellsville; two sons, Donald D. McDowell of East Liverpool and Samuel E. McDowell of Memphis, Tenn., 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. st the Dawson Funeral Home by the Rev. H. Gene Toot. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight.
