Obit: The Correctionville News, 4 April 1935, page 1: The death angel came to relieve the suffering of Mrs. William Wilcox, Thursday, March 28, 1935. She had lived in Woodbury County for about a half century and in the vicinity for 37 years. Rebecca Sophia Yount was born July 9, 1872, in Tama County, Iowa. She resided there taking her public school work until at the age of 14 she moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa, where she attended high school. Three years later she moved with her parents to Woodbury County where she taught school for nine years. Later she attended business college in Sioux City but soon reentered the teaching profession. In 1897 she moved with her parents to Kingsley, Iowa, where she lived for one year. On February 16, 1898, she was united in marriage to William Wilcox of Rock Branch and has during all of the thirty-seven years of their married life lived here. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Hazel, and a son, Ralph; her aged mother, one brother, Don Yount of Jones Co., Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Albert Rockwell of Ponca, Nebraska, Mrs. Stella Keyser of Long View, Washington, and Mrs. Frank Held of Hinton, Iowa. There also survive a number of nieces and nephews. She passed away on Thursday, March 28, at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City following a two-months illness. Everything possible was done to relieve her suffering. Funeral services were conducted at the Rock Branch Church Sunday afternoon with Rev. B.L. Weaver of Ruthven, Iowa, and a former pastor of the Rock Branch Church, in charge. Interment was made in the Rock Branch Cemetery.
