Tommasina DelSignore, salesperson at Higbee's
LORAIN - Tommasina Delsignore (nee Leone), 84, of Lorain, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Barrea, Italy, moving to Lorain with her family at the age of 3.
She graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1939-A.
Mrs. DelSignore was employed in sales at the former Higbee's Co. from 1966 to 1983. She had started work at a young age in the dietary department of the old St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and was also employed by Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. and the Girl Scouts.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, and Isabella Guild. She had been a member of the Fairhome School PTA and enjoyed travel and collecting angels. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include her daughters Barbara Guzik and Palma Stipe, both of Lorain; brother Louis Leone of Lorain; and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patsy DelSignore; son, Patsy DelSignore; and her parents, Antonio and Palmarosa (nee DeLarado) Leone.
Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Prayers there Saturday at 9:30a.m. will be followed at 10 a.m. by Mass of Christian burial in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave. The Rev. Charles Henkle will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
