Percy Lee James Armentor, 79, of Lake Charles died at 4:30 AM Friday, July 31, 2009 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Armentor was born in Crowley, Louisiana and was a long time resident of Moss Bluff and Lake Charles. Mr. Armentor attended Crowley High School. He served in the United States National Guard in 1949 until 1953. Mr. Armentor was the owner and operator of Central Machine & Welding for 45 years. He was a past member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and was a current member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and eucharistic minister. Mr. Armentor was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and he also belonged to Monsignor Cramer's 4th degree Knights of Columbus. During his 35 years in the Knights of Columbus, Mr. Armentor served as the Grand Knight for 3 different councils, was Faithful Navigator, District Deputy, Financial Secretary, and Exemplar as well as the Corp Captain for the Louisiana State Council. In his spare time Percy loved spending time with his family and friends, and doing wood and cabinetry work. He always had a good joke to share and loved making people laugh. Percy is survived by his wife of 59 years Gilderie Marie Hanks Armentor of Moss Bluff, LA, two daughters Colleen Powell and husband L.D. of Humble, TX, Phyllis Bonsmann and husband David of Lake Mary, FL; three sons, Dwaine Armentor and wife Erin of Boyd, TX, Sidney Armentor and wife Debbie of Portland, TX, Cyrus Armentor and wife Tracy of Skiatook, OK; one brother Earl Armentor and wife Wanda of Lake Charles. His 14 grandchildren are Sean Armentor, Jeremy Powell, Crystal Berger (husband Larry), Samuel Armentor, Stephanie Powell, Jason Powell, Matthew Armentor (wife Natalie), Melanie Powell, Lucas Armentor, Derrick Bonsmann, Jarrod Bonsmann, Daniel Armentor, Shannon Bonsmann, and Douglas Armentor. His 10 great grandchildren include Lane Armentor, Austin Armentor, Emily Berger, Autumn Armentor, Olivia Berger, Andrew Armentor, Calista Armentor, Ryan Armentor, Mason Armentor and Addison Powell-Lowe. Mr. Armentor was preceded in death by two brothers; Jessie Armentor and Curtis Armentor and his parents Clovelia and Ignace Armentor. His funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, LA. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.
