Daughter of Boston Lawyer, Gardiner Greene Hubbard and Gertrude Mercer McCurdy. At the age of 4 or 5 she came down with Scarlett Fever and lost her hearing.
Alexander Graham Bell came to Boston as a speech teacher that her father hired for her in 1867 and a courtship began and they married in 1877. (Marriage: July 11, 1877 from FAG Contributor #48515714)
Early in January 1923, Mabel Bell died at her daughter Daisy's Maryland home. Her ashes were interred in Alec's grave on August 7. Following her wishes, the time chosen was 5:00 p.m., the hour when for years she had joined Alec at the Laboratory to bring him home to the family.
