Lyford was born in the Galena community of Woods Co., OK.
His parents were Lloyd Kendall and Sylvia (Wilson) Kendall.
Some of his Kendall relatives were in the orchard business, and the smell in their apple barn in the fall was wonderful.
One rural school that Lyford attended was Elm Grove.
Lyford graduated from Alva, OK high school and Enid, OK Business College. He worked at the Hopeton, OK bank and farmed in the Galena area. He was married on Jan. 1, 1942. He served in the Army in WW II.
He and his wife, Willa Jean (Armour) Kendall had two sons.
In 1956 he and his family moved to Westville, OK, where he engaged in the dairy business with Holstein dairy cattle.
He died suddenly of a heart attack in Siloam Springs, AR on his wedding anniversary.
