Lyford graduated from Alva, OK high school and Enid, OK Business College. He worked at the Hopeton, OK bank and farmed in the Galena area. He was married on Jan. 1, 1942. He served in the Army in WW II.
He and his wife, Willa Jean (Armour) Kendall had two sons.
In 1956 he and his family moved to Westville, OK, where he engaged in the dairy business with Holstein dairy cattle.
He died suddenly of a heart attack in Siloam Springs, AR on his wedding anniversary.
