ALLEN -- Maude Schiesser, 94, Allen, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at a Council Grove hospital. She was born April 19, 1907, in Admire, the daughter of Samuel Ellsworth and Viva Etta Bates Sloyer. She graduated from high school in Eskridge in 1926 and she had taught school at the Snokomo School north of Eskridge in 1926 and 1927. Mrs. Schiesser was a member of the United Methodist Church and Rainbow Rebecca Lodge No. 670, both at Allen. She married Sidney Leroy "Roy" Schiesser on April 23, 1927, in Alma. He died June 5, 1979. Mrs. Schiesser also was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lee Schiesser, May 6, 1968, and a daughter, Anita Rae Cavanaugh, May 7, 1994. Survivors include three sons, Donald E. Schiesser and Dennis D. Schiesser, both of Allen, and Terry L. Schiesser, York, Pa.; a daughter, Dianne Mann, Allen; a sister, Doris Blankenship, Silver Lake; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church at Allen. Burial will be in the Allen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church at Allen and sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
