Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ with Gary Bodine of Wellington, Kan., officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Beloved mother and grandmother, Opal Vern Reeves of Borger, passed away peacefully at Golden Plains Community Hospital during the afternoon of Friday, July 31, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. At the time of her death, Mrs. Reeves was 90 years old and was preceded in death by her husband, Willard V. Reeves Sr., and two sons, James Reeves and Willard V. Reeves Jr.
One of 12 siblings, Opal was born to Frank and Henrietta Castleman on Dec. 9, 1918, in Harmon County, Okla. Much-loved throughout her life, Mrs. Reeves was the adored mother of five children, 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Moving to the Borger area in 1945, Opal loved gardening, cooking and sewing, as well as time spent in the company of children and grandchildren. During her time, she worked as a cook at Borger nursing homes and dedicated herself to her children and friends.
Survivors include a son, Ricky L. Reeves of Fritch; two daughters, Betty Anderson of Castroville and Michelle Rodriguez and husband John of Borger; a daughter-in-law, Edie Reeves of Borger; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Church of Christ, 1100 Bulldog Blvd., Borger, TX 79007.
