"CUMBERLAND-John Thomas McGreevy, 49, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995 at Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 7, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late D. Arnold and Mary (Malloy) McGreevy. He also was preceded in death by one son, Sean P. McGreevy. Mr. McGreevy was a retired bartender at the Hall of Fame Club and was a former baker at Stroehmann Bakery. He was Catholic by faith; vice chairman of the Allegany County Democratic State Central Committee; executive board member of the Western Maryland Central Labor Council; member of the Haystack Mountain Sportsman Club and the Democrat Club. He was honored in 1994 by the Allegany County Democratic Party as "Mr. Democrat" of the year.

Surviving are his spouse, Lois (Sirbaugh) McGreevy; one daughter, Kathleen A. McGreevy and Bobby, Hyndman, Pa.; one step-son, Jay E. Miller and wife Vicki, Cumberland; two brothers, Dr. Gerry McGreevy and wife, Joyce, Frederick; Patrick B. McGreevy and wife, Michelle, Pittsburgh, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Verna MIller and Harry, Hyndman, and two grandchildren, L.J. Miller and Kaitlyn Wharton.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Lambardi as celebrant.

Interment will be in Palo Alto Cemetery."
