Dorchester marriages: The Revd. Mr. Thomas Jones of Woburn, & Mrs. Abigail Wiswell of Dorchester were Married By The Revd. Mr. Jonathan Bowman on September 5. 1751.

Parents: John Wiswell and Sarah Pierce.

In 1751, Abigail married the Rev. Thomas Jones, who had recently been chosen minister of Woburn's Second Parish (later Burlington.) He died in 1774. The new minister, Rev. John Marrett boarded with Mrs. Jones and later married her daughter, Martha Jones.

On April 19, 1775, one group of British soldiers were sent to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams who were staying in Lexington. Alerted to this, they were brought from Lexington to Madam Jones' house. Told that the soldiers were on their way to Burlington, the Rev. Marrett and Cuff Trot, Madam Jones' slave, moved them to the home of Capt. James Reed. Later, they were moved again - to Billerica.
