WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Luther Lee Moore was born on 15 September 1891, in Camden, Arkansas. He is reported as a White Male, five foot eight and a half inches in height, with a ruddy complexion. He is the son of Lanas M and Elizabeth (Atkins) Moore.

On 31 October 1915, at Little Rock, Arkansas, Luther married Ellen Strayhorn. They had no children, and remained married until Ellen's death on 25 March 1950.

After getting marriage, on 12 July 1918, at Denver, Colorado Luther was inducted into the United States Army. He served with Headquarters Company, Student Army Training Corps (SATC) at Tulane, Louisiana until his discharge at New Orleans on 10 December 1918.

A little over a year after Ellen's death, on 9 April 1951 Luther again entered into matrimony. This time he married Vera Kelly Culver, a LPN at the Washington Veterans Home, at Retsil, Washington where Luther resided. Shortly after being married Vera resigned her LPN position at the home and left for California, leaving Luther in Washington.

Luther then was voluntarily discharged from the Washington Veterans Home. On 10 January 1953, at Sumner, Washington Luther passed away . Luther is buried, with his wife Ellen, in the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery, at Retsil, Washington.
