Ellen Josephine Dixon was born at Lowell, Iowa, Henry Co. Nov. 06, 1858. She grew to womanhood in this vicinity. She was married to Losson Sanders of Barnes City in 1875. To this union seven children were born. Harlan who died in infancy, Mrs. Fred Hockey of Barnes City; Mrs. Tom Morey , Sloan; Mrs. Moina McFarland, Interior S.D.; Mrs. Art Porter, Missouri Valley; Mrs. Milton Bessett, Clare Illinois and Roy Sanders of Sibley. She and her husband had lived in northwest Iowa for the last thirty-four years, her husband preceding her in death in April, 1938. Since his death she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Tom Morey of Sloan, Iowa. She joined the Methodist church when a young girl and was a faithful member and worker until her illness prevented. She passed away October 14, at St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City, Iowa and was laid to rest in the Sibley cemetery beside her husband. Rev. Arrasmith of Sibley officiating. Pallbearers were Jesse Broughton, Chris Attig, Herman Helmers and E. L. Timmons.
