Funeral Services for Philip Carey Becker, Sr., age 73, of Metairie, LA, formerly of Coatesville, PA, who passed away in his home on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, will be held at 2P.M. in the family home, 3525 Highway 129, Tarversville on Sunday, November 9th. Burial will follow in the Jeffersonville City Cemetery. -He is the son of the late Julius and Irene Becker. He lived in New Orleans for the past 58 years and had his second home in Tarversville. He was a chemical engineer with Shell Oil Company retiring after 40 years. Mr. Becker was a 1954 graduate of Tulane University and president of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a former commander of the Metairie Power Squadron and Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 70 in Metairie, LA. He was an avid reader, loved sailing and played a mean gut bucket. Mr. Becker was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Madge Pierce Becker. -Survivors include his children, Philip Carey Becker, Jr., Elizabeth Becker (Mike) Stuhlreyer, William Pierce (Julie) Becker; grandchildren, Emma, Maggie, Carey, Cecilia; a host of nieces, nephews, good friends and family. -In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant House, 611 North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA 71112. The family will meet friends at their residence two hours prior to the service.
