Grace E. West, 88, a resident of Scott County Nursing Home, and formerly of Oneida, passed away early Tuesday morning April 20, 1993 at the Scott County Hospital. Born in Kentucky on February 25, 1905, she was the daughter of the late John Roy and Sarah Luverne Roy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Everett West, one of the founder of West-Murley Funeral Home in 1949; two sons, Glynn Roy West and Charles Vernon West; one daughter, Lois Lee West Harris; three brothers: William Roy, Chester Roy and Herschel Roy; and two sisters, Bert Hines and Nellie Kelley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida. Survivors include two daughters-in-law: Elizabeth West of Oneida and Evelyn West of Florida; one son-in-law, Bob Harris of Florida; one sister-in-law, Goldie West of Knoxville; 16 grandchildren. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives survive also. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23 from the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Marcy Lay sang and Gina Phillips accompanied her on the piano. Burial followed in the Carson Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers were: Marvin West, David Duncan, Paul Roy, Chuck West, Joe Duncan and Tim West. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
