Zane Harold Gray, 84, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 in Odessa.

He was born February 18, 1925 in Eliasville, Texas to Jim Gray and Dona Lula Davidson Gray. Zane was a star athlete for OHS and helped the football team go to state in 1942. He married Ruby Lee Clark on November 5, 1945 in Odessa. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2008. Zane served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner on the battleship U.S.S. Indiana in WWII. He was a chemist in the Petro Chemical Industry and was employed by Odessa Natural Gas Company for 38 years. Our loving father will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Mealer and husband Preston of Pearland, Tx and Karen Johnston and husband Darrell of Odessa; brother, JT. Gray and sister Sonja Reneau; grandchildren, Brandon Mealer and wife Nycol, Matt Mealer and wife Marti, Kelly Marshall, Jodi Marshall, Teena Martel, and Kathy Hughes and husband Loyd; great grandchilden, Loghan, Presley, Cayden, Trace, Sydney, Dalton, Tyler and Tinley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Gray; brother, Paul Gray and his parents, Jim and Dona Gray.

Visitation with the family will be 5-6 PM Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with his Grandchildren officiating.
