At an early hour this morning the death of J. M. Denson occurred at the family home, 215 Obraje street, where he had been ill for some time. He was 68 years old and was a veteran of the civil war, having served with distinction in the Confederate army under Captain Tom Rabb. He was a member of Company D, Thirty-third Texas calvalry, and took part in many of the hardest fought engagements of the great conflict.
For the last few years he had conducted a barbecue stand in Avenue D, near the postoffice. Mr. Denson is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock this afternoon under the auspices of the Confederate veterans and the burial will be in the Confederate cemetery.
