Charles Raymond "Ray" McCalmont, Jr., 92, of El Paso, TX and formerly of Show Low, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008, in El Paso.

Ray was born June 7, 1916, at Browning, MO, the son of Charles Raymond and Olive Elizabeth (Hooker) McCalmont, Sr. The family moved from Bisbee to Douglas, then to Sonora, Mexico, moving to Phoenix in 1923.

He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Immigration and Naturalization service in Arizona and El Paso, retiring in 1973. He came to Show Low in 1973, where he worked part time for White Mountain Lines for twenty years.

He was a life member of the Whiteriver Masonic Lodge #62, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Show Low, serving as Worshipful Master twice, and a member of the Ajo Lodge #36. He was a 32nd Degree York Rite Mason. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Masonic Charities of Arizona for fourteen years, serving as Secretary/Treasurer ten years. He was a member of Mizpah Chapter #57, order of Easter Star, serving as Worthy Patron three times. He was a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and had served as State President for that organization. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include one son, Charles Raymond McCalmont, III, of and wife Eugenia of El Paso, TX; grandson, Charles Raymond McCalmont, IV.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 12, at Show Low Cemetery with Pastor Mark Crotinger of the First Baptist Church officiating. Masonic Rites will be peformed by Whiteriver Lodge AF & AM #62 of Show Low
