Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Luther Edward and Josephine Hawkins Greene. His wife was the late Ethel Stewart Greene.
Mr. Greene was a farmer and an assessor for the Greenville County Tax Commission. He was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church, a former deacon and treasurer, and served in numerous other positions in the church. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Greenville County Cattlemen's Association, was a Mason and Member at Cooper Masonic Lodge 34 at Travelers Rest.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joanne Greene Turner of Greenville; a son, Jackson E. Greene, Sr. of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Kate Greene Turner of Greenville and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home, but will receive friends at The Mackey Mortuary Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reedy River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
