Ray Webb, 87, of Route 1, Tunnel Hill, an owner and longtime worker in Webb Orchards, died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 1986, in Marion Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Webb was also a 36-year member of the Southeast Illinois Electrical Co-op Board, and a past director of the Goreville State Bank.
He was also a member of Johnson County ASC Committee and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mr. Webb attended Center Public School in Tunnel Hill.
A son of J.C. and Lucy Jane Vinson Webb, Mr. Webb was born Sept. 3, 1898, in Tunnel Hill.
He married Golda Hankla on Nov. 25, 1925, in Jonesboro. She survives.
Other survivors include five daughters Myra Throgmorton of Sparta, Elaine Romine of Danville, Norma Martin of Vienna, Charlene Hodge of Goreville, and Jean Phillips of Norris City; four sons, Kenneth, Glenn and Phillip Webb all of Tunnel Hill, and Bob Webb of Goreville; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazle Bradley and Dimple Johnson, both of Creal Springs, and Gladys Lemasters of Anna; and three brothers. Owen Webb, both of Marion, and Cecil and Elisha Webb, both of Marion.
Two sisters, Lois Simmons and Grace Clow, and four infant brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 1986, in the Reorganized Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints near Tunnel Hill, with burial in the Webb Cemetery in rural Johnson County. Elder Wallace Pebbles officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the RLDS Chruch or to the American Parkinson's Association.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Whitnel Funeral Home, Vienna.
