Lance Corporal
The Light Dragoons
British Army
He was deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

LCpl. Dennis was killed by a contact explosion from an improvised explosive device whilst on foot, north of Lashkar Gah in Helmand province. He had just helped secure a helicopter landing site so casualties could be airlifted away for treatment.

Aged 29, from Llanelli, Wales. He joined the Army on the 14 Feb 2003 as a gunner in the Royal Artillery before joining King's Troop. He was known to all as "Duke" because of his straight-talking character, similar to the roles played by action hero John Wayne. He was fiercely proud of his Welsh roots, gregarious by nature and a dedicated, dependable soldier. A skilled small arms instructor, he served a six-month tour in Iraq in 2005 and was on his second tour of Afghanistan

LCpl. Dennis is survived by his mother Adele, his father Roger, stepmother Helen, brothers Gareth and Matthew, and his fiancée Lisa Macgregor, along with other relatives.

He was laid to rest July 28, 2009 with full military honours in a service and celebration of his life at All Saints Church in Llanelli. At least 500 mourners packed into the church to listen to tributes from friends, family and colleagues, as up to 200 more listened outside. The funeral procession then moved on to Llanelli Crematorium.
