Freeda Bishop Banta, aged 67, of Route 1, Green Forest, died Tuesday, March 4, 1986 at North Arkansas Medical Center.

She was born December 10, 1918 at Carrollton, a daughter of John Ellis and Linda Dodson Bishop. She was an owner and operator of Banta's Orchard and Restaurant. She was a member of the Green Forest United Methodist Church. She was a licensed cosmetologist, and a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teacher College (UCA) and she taught at various schools in the area. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors included her husband, Ralph Banta, of the home; a son, Don Banta, Harrison, a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Banta, Harrison; a sister, Ruby Williams, Harrison; three grandchildren, Sessali, Nathanael, and Nicholas Banta.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Holt Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Burris, the Rev. Tim Phillips, and the Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers included Ken Jones, John Allan Jones, John Ed Whitaker, Rusty Williams, Ronnie Williams and Kent Ragan.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Arkansas Affiliate, 7509 Cantrell Road, Suite 227, Little Rock, 72207.

Visitation was from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Holt Memorial Chapel.
