He was united in marriage Jan. 20, 1870, to Mary Jane Lee, at Winchester, Ill., by B. B. Hamilton. To this union were born five daughters and four sons - four daughters with the mother have preceded him in death. The mother passed to her reward Jan. 12, 1901. He leaves to mourn his going one daughter, Mrs. James Northcutt, Sr., of Alsey, and four sons, Wm. Madison and Ora Lee of Winchester, Robert F., of Roodhouse and Jesse C. of Pleasant Hill; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Will Hester of Jacksonville and a host of relatives and friends.
On May 29, 1903, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Augusta Suttles. To this union one daughter was born and she preceded him in death April 7, 1920.
Funeral services were conducted from the Dieterle funeral home, Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 3, 1934, at one o'clock, Rev. F. V. Wright officiating.
S. G. Smith sang "Going Down the Valley" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." He was accompanied by Mrs. Smith.
Interment was in the Carlton cemetery, the pall bearers being Olin Clark, John Smith, Kenneth Taylor, Jas. Northcutt, Jr., George and Eugene Carlton.
