Dennis L. "Red" Williams passed peacefully into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on July 22, 2009 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He never gave up, and he never gave in!

Red was born on Feb. 24, 1944 to Almon Williams and Ellen (Williams) Atwood. After his father's death in 1948, Red was raised by his mother Ellen and step-father, Larvin Atwood.

Red married his sweetheart Teri Storey on Oct. 4, 1976. Together they raised five children. He was known as "Papa Red" to numerous foster children. His family meant the world to him. Red loved the time he spent with his grandchildren, the mountains, and his all time favorite, Mountain Man Rendezvous. Red was a friend to everyone, and always has a smile to share.

He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed leather working, building knives, woodworking, and muzzle loading.

Red is preceded in death by his father, Almon Williams; mother, Sarah Ellen Atwood; and special "brother", Bobby Boyd.

Red was faithfully employed by Target Trucking for almost 30 years. He was a dedicated, hard-working man who taught his children the value of hard work. He believed in "an honest day's work for an honest day's pay".

Red is survived by his tender loving wife of 33 years, Teri; two sons, Rick Williams, Matthew (Stephanie) Williams; three daughters, Jolene Williams, Amie Williams and Melissa (Will) Holfeltz; his step-father, Larvin Atwood; brother, Robert (Sharon) Patterson; four nieces; one nephew and five grandchildren.

Heaven has gained a special spirit. Although we will miss him, we are thankful for the time we have spent with him and that his physical suffering is over.

Daddy, we will miss you so very much and look forward to our glorious reunion. We love you more than all the water, all the stars and all the trees in the world!!

Funeral services were held at the Maeser Stake Center on July 27, and interment in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Mortuary.

Red's family would like to thank Dr. Akerley and Dr. Julie Smit at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their genuine concern and professionalism. A special thanks to our Hospice Nurses, Maeser 2nd and Maeser 3rd wards for their kindness and concern towards our family.
