Oscar Aubry Absher, 66, of 1501 A St. died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
Mr. Absher served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired electrician of a shipyard. He was born in Ballenger, Tex., on Feb. 17, 1904, a son of the late Adolphus H. and Estella Ard Absher.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Golden Absher; one daughter, Mrs. Eugene Beyerlin of Rhamstine, Germany; five brothers, F. H. Absher of Compton, Calif., C. L. Absher of Denver. Col., T. R. Absher of Puyallup, Wash., T. J. Absher of Compton, and A. H. Absher of Oakland Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Duncan of Paramount, Calif., Mrs. Syble Beardon of Oakland and Mrs. Norma Lasnetski of Wheatridge, Col.; also four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by L. Roger Powell of the Waynesboro Church of Christ. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Brent Fitzgerald, Lemuel Kirby, Clifton A. Dean Jr., John W. Henderson, George Bailey, and Lee Zimmerman Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be E. H. White, Dr. Harvey B. Ryder, Dr. David J. Crawford, Arnette Tomey, Samuel Zimmerman, Theodore R. Craig, Brig. E. P. Gross, Roy Fleeman, Freddie Craig, and N. H. Baker.
