Helen L. Brown, 91, of Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone died early Tuesday morning August 2, 2022, at her residence.

She was born October 18, 1930, in Stendal, IN a daughter of the late Noble Harold and Milia (Leslie) Bass. She married Ralph F. Brown on November 21, 1952, in Evansville, IN. He preceded her in death June 15, 1992.

Surviving are two children, daughter Suzanne B. Furman (James) of Hollidaysburg, and son, Gregory S. Brown (Carol) of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Kara Furman, Christabelle Brown, Kayla Furman-Fulkerson (Nathan), Aaron Brown, and Katelyn Brown (Devin); a great granddaughter, Lotus; and numerous extended family members.

Helen was preceded in death by two children, daughter Deborah A. Brown on December 13, 2016, and son David M. Brown on October 6, 2020: and two brothers Harold L. Bass, and Herman L. Bass.

Mrs. Brown was a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona where she held various offices throughout the years as well as serving in the Reaper Food Bank Ministry.

She was a 1948 graduate of Stendal High School and a 1950 graduate of Lockyears Business College, Evansville IN.

Helen was a Bell Telephone Operator before marrying and raising her family. Her strong faith was a guiding force in her life as she cared for her husband and children through the years.

Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. David Taylor officiating.

Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to The Door Student Services, Inc., PO Box 6, Bellwood, PA 16617 or to Mephibosheth Ministries, PO Box 1061, Colorado Springs, CO 80903-9900.

The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone for their love, kindness and friendship shown during Helen's residency, and the staff of AseraCare Hospice Care, Altoona for their loving and compassionate care during her final days.
