Virgil "Tad" Butler, 88, of Sterling, died Monday, May 15, 2000 in Sterling.
Memorial' services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with services concluding at the home.
Rev. Steven Schorr and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1336 will officiate. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Butler was born Dec. 31, 1911 in Rockport, Mo. to Albert and Leonora (Brown) Butler. The family moved to Fleming, where
graduated from Fleming High School in 1930.
On June 26, 1943 in Sidney, Neb., he married Doris Cox. They moved to Sterling, where they remained. He was a selfemployed grain dealer and trucker before working at Sterling Oil and Gas. He retired in
1986.
He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No 1336, and enjoyed gardening, sports, reading and playing cards.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife Doris Butler of Sterling; two daughters, Connie Clark and husband Curtis, and Sheila Fabela and husband John, all of Sterling; special friend Marge Bowin of Sterling; four grand children and three great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Burl Butler.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
