Services Held Friday for N. A. Sandifer

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 4:00 from Calvary Baptist Church in Silver Creek for N. A. (Nutchie) Sandifer, 63, of Silver Creek, who died Wednesday afternoon in a Jackson hospital where he had been a patient for several days. Rev. James McLemore and Rev. Ralph Cranford officiated and interment followed in the Calvary Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge.

Honorary pallbearers were Thea Stephens, Dr. J. W. Waller, W. T. Lipsey, Bennett Shivers, J. D. Polk, J. P. Cassells, John Thomas, John S. Dale, Aubrey Jordan, Joe Dale, Willie George, Dale Allen, Jack Parkman, Kelly Miller and J. W. Daniel. Active pallbearers were Phillip May, Houston Hartzog, Jr., George Hartzog, Tommy Weekley, George Williams and Jimmy George.

Mr. Sandifer was a native of the Silver Creek area where for many years he was engaged in business and held extensive farm interest. His willingness to sell a large tract of land was a factor in St. Regis Paper Company locating in Lawrence County. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a director of South Central Bank in Silver Creek. He was a member of the Silver Creek Civitan Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kathleen Johnston Sandifer, of Silver Creek; one daughter, Mrs. James Jones of Silver Creek; his father, Norris S. Sandifer of Silver Creek, one brother, Thad Sandifer of Prentiss; five sisters, Mrs. Bernice Watson of Fayette; Mrs. Ray Butler of Eunice, La.; Mrs. Willie Fore, Mrs. Ray Fuller, both of Jackson; Mrs. Henry Riley of New Hebron; and three grandchildren.
