Mrs. Catherine Ellen (Guthrie) Wolfgang, aged 85 years, 5 months, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reed Brosius, in Summerville, on Saturday, December 18. The deceased was born July 12, 1846, a daughter of James and Elizabeth Guthrie. She was united in marriage to John Wolfgang on June 29, 1865, and to their union twelve children were born, five of whom died in infancy. The husband and father died sixteen years ago. Surviving children are: J.J. Wolfgang of DuBois; John and Ase Wolfgang of Cleveland, O; Mrs. Reed Brosius of Summerville; T.T. Wolfgang and Mrs. W.C. Spare of Heathville. Eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one sister - Mrs. Elizabeth Freedline of Belsano, also survive.

The deceased early in life united with the Evangelical Church and was a faithful member until the end. She was a kind and loving mother and a helpful and cheerful neighbor who leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing. Her entire life was spent in Jefferson County.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Reed Brosius, with whom she had lived for the past four years, conducted by Rev. Mr. Frampton of the Methodist Epsicopal Church, her own pastor being sick. Music was furnished by members of the Methodist choir. Six of her grandchildren were pallbearers.
