Orangeburg - John W. Wactor, 89, founder and president of Orangeburg Gin Inc., died Thursday [7 Jan 1993] in a local hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dukes-Harley
Funeral Home, will be in Jerusalem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Elloree.

Mr. Wactor was born in Orangeburg County, a son of Arthur D. Wactor and Valerie Snell Wactor.
He was an Army veteran of World War I, having served with the Chemical Warfare Division. He was a member of the Lions Club of Orangeburg, Ehrhardt Hunting Club, Bonnie Doone Hunting Club, and the Orangeburg County
Barracks 762 of World War I and was a life member of the Orangeburg Elks Club.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was married to the late Evelyn Ulmer Wactor.

Surviving are a son, Robert S. Wactor of Orangeburg; a daughter, Harriet Reid of Greenville; a brother, Hubert P. Wactor of Orangeburg; two sisters, Sadie W. Rayfield of Chesterfield and Dorothy W. Burch of Pageland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
