Rachel Brown Morrison, 81, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on Aug. 16, 1927 in Mooresville, the daughter of the late James Alexander and Goldie Litton Berry Brown. She was a member of Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served in the nursery for more than 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Craig Morrison; brother, Andrew Elbert Brown; sister, Edith Marie Brown Kerr; half brothers, P.O. "Ted" Berry, Everette Berry, Herman Berry; and grandson, Mark Alan Slater. She is survived by her children, Glenda M. Slater and husband, Lee, of Mooresville, Judy M. McDaniels and husband, Donnie, of Statesville; brother, David W. Brown of Perry, Fla.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Fuquay officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 5624 Executive Center Dr., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28212. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home served the Morrison family.
