He moved to Detroit in 1929 and began working for Briggs Manufacturing Company which later became part of Chrysler Corporation. During his forty-two years of employment, he was a very active member of the U.A.W. serving as both Shop Steward and Chief Steward.
In 1931 he united in holy matrimony to Lacy Coleman and they were blessed with four children.
Jesse departed this life on Monday, June 24, 1996 at 4:45 p.m. in Sinai Hospital.
His wife was Lacy Coleman Richardson and their children are Kenneth Richardson, Mildred Richardson Rollins, Sharlene Richardson Jones and Marilyn Richardson Jackson. His parents were Savannah Arrington Richardson and Lawyer Richardson. He was brother to L.E., Marie Etta Richardson Smith, Mack Richardson, William Richardson, Willie Lee, Lawyer Richardson Jr., Rosie Lee Richardson Blair, Bert Richardson and Robert Lee Richardson. His maternal grandparents were Jack Arrington and Gracey Martin Arrington.
