J.D. SHADRICK, 81 YEARS OLD, SUMMONED BY DEATH FRIDAY

J.D. Shadrick, a highly respected citizen of this community for many years, died at the home of his son-in-law, Mendal Phillips, near Granite, at 5 a.m. Friday. Burial was in Foss cemetery at 5 p.m. Friday, the services being conducted by Rev. R.E. Smith, pastor of the Corinth Baptist Church. Death was due to bladder trouble. The deceased was in his 81st year.

Mr. Shadrick was born near Atlanta, Ga., February 19, 1844. He enlisted in the Confederate army at the outbreak of the Civil war and served throughout the conflict. He was married to Miss Mary Cole in Coweta county, Georgia, in 1866. To them were born four children, three of whom are living. They are D.E. Shadrick and Mrs. J.F. Gathright, both of Foss, and Mrs Mendal Phillips of Granite. A sister, Mrs. Wm. Boatright, of Boaz, Ga., and a brother Doc Shadrick, of Oklahoma City, also survive. His wife died 12 years ago.

The deceased moved to Hunt county, Texas, in 1894, and came to Oklahoma 16 years ago, locating 9 miles north of Foss. After the death of his wife he made his home with his children. He was a member of the Baptist church.
