John died of a cerebral hemorrhage at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. At the time of his death, he was 82 years, 1 month and 28 days old.
He was survived by his wife, Eva; 3 daughters, Eileen Friedel, Genevieve Moses and Florence Friedel, all of Golden Eagle, Illinois; 3 sons, Norman Arnold of Alton, Illinois, Stanley Arnold of Golden Eagle, and Wilmer Arnold of the home; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Marie Halwe of Lake Jackson, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Visitation was held at Imming Funeral Home in Brussels, Illinois. A rosary was recited there at 8:30 p.m. on the evening of 09 Jun 1958. A Requiem High Mass was conducted at 9 a.m. the following morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brussels.
John's wife, Eva, passed away in 1973 and was buried next to him.
