Dea. John Pearson and wife Dorcas came from England to
Ipswich, then to Rowley, Mass., in 1643, bringing with him machinery for a Fulling mill, which was the first in this country. Supposing America had no wood that would stand water, he brought cedar posts also. Some of these posts were taken up about 1800, and found in a good state of preservation. He leased a grist mill of P. Nelson, which his son John subsequently bought. He was sent to the general court in 1678, and eight times after; was also selectman. In 1660 his tax was £1, 6s., id., and in 1891 It was £7, 15s., the highest but one in Rowley.
He died 1693 and his wife in died 1703.

4. Samuel, b. July, 1648 m. Dec. 0, 1670, Mary Poor, and lived in Haverhill, Mass., til his home was burned by the Indians after which they lived in Newbury, Mass. She died at the birth of their daughter Mury who married James Thurston
5. Dorcas, b. 1650
6. Mary, b. Feb. 1, 16?2. married in 1671 Samuel Palmer
7. Jeremiah, b. Oct. 1653, m. Priscilla Huzen, who died 175.;. aged 88; he built a second mill In 1700, had ten children
8. Sarah
9. Joseph, b. 1656, killed at Jlloody Brook, Deerneld, Mass., in ?75. when seven hundred Indians attacked one hundred men, the flower of Essex county, and killed seventy-five
10. Benjamin, m. Hannah Tburstou
11. Phebe, b. June, 1660, m. Dea Timothy Harris, who was representative to general court 1720-22, had mills in Rowley, ten children; Mrs. Dr. Joshua Jewett was his great-granddaughter and daughter of Eunice Thurston
