Alpha Christle Jackson Johnston, 92, of Ozark died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Van Buren.

A homemaker and a member of the Ozark Assembly of God Church, she was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Bidville to John Craven Jackson and Mary Catherine Shepherd Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eubert D. Johnston; one son, Eubert Elton Johnston; three sisters and eight brothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Loretta J. Sossamon of Van Buren, Mary Ann Johnston of Ozark and Wilma R. Brushwood of Ozark; a stepdaughter, Betty Lou Wyers of Lorrain, Ohio; a son, Bobby J. Johnston of Houston, Ark.; three sisters-in-law, Euleta Reeves of Ozark, Moneeta Johnston of Ozark and Fern Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday at Ozark Assembly of God, with Mary Ann Johnston and Renita Watts officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Pallbearers were Duane Coppick, Jeff Cady, Greg Cady, Todd Gragg, Tommy Coppick and Jason Culpepper.

Honorary pallbearers were David Sossamon, Eddie Brushwood, Bill Mullen, Jared Watts, Tom Millon, James Vail, Randy Hurst and Robert Brushwood.
