Charles Delbert "Swede" Hanson, 77, 515 S. Steuben, Chanute, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 2, 1991, at Arolyn Heights Nursing Home, Chanute, Kansas. He had been ill for more than a year.

He was born May 28, 1913, in Wilson County, Kansas, the son of Henry S. and Hilda (Peterson) Hanson.

He was a lifetime resident of the area.

On April 21, 1935, he was married to Maxine F. Sheffler, at Chanute, Kansas. She preceded him in death June 27, 1989.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had retired as yardmaster for AT&SF Railroad, and operated a repair shop in his home for guns, fishing tackle, and all kinds of camping equipment.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Chanute Elks Lodge #806, Neosho Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a life member of the VFW.

Survivors include a daughter, Juliann Hanson, of Shawnee, KS; a brother, Glenn Hanson, of Chanute, KS; and a sister, Margaret Perkins, of South Coffeyville, OK.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 4, 1991, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Marilyn Gregory and the Rev. Jack Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
