Paul Lambert Dent, 85, Chanute, Kansas, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kansas.

He was born June 10, 1919, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Francis Ray and Mahala Rose (Hunt) Dent.

He was raised and attended school in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School in 1938.

On April 28, 1946, he married Velma Croisant in Chanute, Kansas. She died Jan. 19, 2003.

He worked as a grocer at Self Service Grocery for more than 50 years until his retirement.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday school superintendent for 25 years. He also served as an elder, an usher and was involved with the church's radio program.

He was a member of the Vision Group and United Commercial Travelers.

He enjoyed leaded glass work and family genealogy.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Dent, Lafayette, CO, and G. Brian Dent, Chanute, KS; a sister, Vivian Ellison, Engelwood, CO; and a brother, Lynn Dent, Chanute, KS.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church, led by the Rev. Scott Lemmermann. Burial will be in Neosho County Memorial Park on west 21st St, Chanute, KS.

Memorials to Zion Lutheran Church or Horizon Hospice may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Chanute, is in charge of arrangements.
