ACRES, JAMES JOSEPH - age 61, died at the Orange County hospital Saturday September 13, 1986, after an illness. James "Jim" ACRES had resided in Orange County since 1964, working as the area conservationist of southern Indiana. He had worked for the Conservation Service for over 36 years, with outstanding achievement in his work. He also taught school for one year in Indiana. He was a WW II Veteran, a member of the Paoli Christian Church, and Paoli Kiwanis club. Mr. ACRES was the son of the late JOSEPH ACRES and SARAH ELLEN WHILITE of Scott County, TN, where he was born and raised. He graduated from Scott County High School and the University of Tennessee, where he received a BS in agriculture. Jim loved to hunt and fish with his many friends and visited scott co in his free time. JIM was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers- AUDIE ACRES of Cincinatti, OH, Arzo Acres of Oneida, TN , and CLEO ACRES, Oneida, TN; and 2 sisters, OPHIA ACRES REED and DEREDA ACRES DAUGHERTY of Oneida, TN. Mourning his death are his two children: MARK DOUGLAS ACRES and wife JAMIE BROWN of Wisconsin, and LYNNE ELLEN ACRES of Paoli; 4 grandchildren, DARA, AMY, SARA and JORDAN ACRES; a brother and a sister: PAUL ACRES of Oneida, TN and LENA ACRES REED and husband HOLLIS REED of Sunbright, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Dillman Ellis funeral home in Paoli Monday night from 5-9. Services for JAMES ACRES will be Tuesday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m., with several friends giving memorial speeches at the funeral home with burial following at the Paoli community cemetery. Donations in lieu may be made to the American Cancer Society.
