James "Luck" Sampson, 71, of Marmet passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was a truck driver for Keen Transport and worked in construction at Union Carbide. James was a former member of the Eagles Club in Montgomery and was also an honorary member of the Chippewa Indian Tribe, Buffalo, New York.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Sampson; parents, Elias Sampson and Mary Margaret Shafer; and siblings, Ruth Carnes, Marvin Sampson, Ellie Chapman, Tressie Shaffer, Maysel Newhouse, Lewis Sampson and Lona Smith.

Surviving are his brothers, Elias Jr. Sampson of Powellton, Robert L. Sampson of Frame and Charles W. Sampson of Midvale, Ohio; and a sister, Naomi Cavender of Frame.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
