She was born August 14, 1944, the daughter of Arthur and Lorna (Shepherd) Stone in Battle Creek. Melinda lived with her family at Gull Lake until moving to The Ledges in Massachusetts in 1974.
Melinda is survived by her brother, Irving Thomas Stone, and sister-in-law, Sarah F. Stone, of West Lebanon, New Hampshire; niece Jennifer Randolph of Hanover, New Hampshire, nephew Jay Stone of San Marcos, California, and five grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur Stone Jr.
Melinda's favorite activities included going for rides and stopping to eat at McDonalds, reading catalogs, and coloring.
A graveside service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Yorkville Cemetery, Gull Lake, with The Rev. Brian Coleman, St. Thomas Episcopal Church, officiating.
