IVINS, UT - Carl Petersen, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father July 7, 2002.

Carl was born April 26, 1932 to Lorretta Hill and Alma Petersen in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Jean Wilson Johnson, divorced, and then married Jane Bollschweiler. Carl was a devoted husband and father whose unconditional love for his family was the hallmark of his life. He had a great love for all people and was never too busy to spend time in quiet conversation with all he met. He especially loved long walks through the neighborhood with his dog Beau as he visited with friends and neighbors.

Carl was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Young Men's president, Deacon advisor, advisor in the state prison church program, High Priest group leader and Sunday School secretary. However, his most significant calling of service was as a consistent and dedicated Home Teacher. His life long service to others is a testimony of his love for all people.

He graduated from the University of Utah and worked for the IRS for 30 years, retired and worked for ten years at the Utah State Tax Commission. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was in the Civil Air Patrol in St. George, Utah.

Although Carl's presence will be missed by all who knew him, his influence will be felt as he continues his work of loving service in a beautiful place of solace and peace.

Carl is survived by his caring and devoted companion, Jane Bollschweiller Petersen; nine loving children, Richard (Ann) Petersen, Debbie (Mike) Martin, Patty Petersen, Julia (Jerry) Bay, Marcy (Sherm) Slaughter, David B. Ferguson, John D. (Amy) Petersen, Howard A. Petersen, Lonnie J. (Ashley VanBibber) Petersen; 18 caring grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his trusted little walking buddy, Beau.
