Joe served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24 (#41-28675), 759th Bomber Squadron, 459th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forced during World War II.

He resided in Jefferson County, Kentucky prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 28, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Sales Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Joe was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was hit by enemy flak and crashed near Mostar, Yogoslavia during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Italy and was later repatriated here on April 26, 1950.
