MILL CREEK - Calvin Henry Blankenship, 71, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at the VA Medical Center, Salem, VA, following a short illness. Mr. Blankenship served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was employed by Eastern Associated Coal of Kopperston for 10 years and was of the Baptist faith.

Born Februart 14, 1930, at Shannons Fork, Brenton, he was the son of the late John Elmer "Johnny" Blankenship (1910-Deceased) and Eva Miller-Adams-Blankenship (1894-1975). He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Blankenship-Wimmer (1951-1974); a granddaughter, Tina Jean Walker (Deceased); a sister, Merlie Adams-Adkins (1919-Deceased); and two brothers, Troy L. Adams (1912-1994) and Coy L. Adams (1916-Deceased).

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Emma Jean Allen-Blankenship (B. 1931) whom he married on November 13, 1947 in Brenton, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1947, Page 70, Application Date: November 10, 1947); a son, Coy L. Blankenship & wife Karoline Blankenship of New Baltimore, MI; four daughters, Jeanette Blankenship Saunders (1953-2019) & husband Michael "Mike" Saunders (Deceased) of Red House, Audrey Blankenship-Jennings & husband Roger Jennings of Saulsville, and Serena Blankenship-Browning and Kimberly Blankenship-Lafferty (1964-2006), both of Brenton; three sisters, Allie Adams-Sheline (1920-Deceased) of New Lexington, OH, and Dora "Kathleen" Blankenship-Hatfield-Acord (1921-2009) and Lillian Blankenship-Dancy (1935-2006), both of Brenton; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville, with the Rev. Lee Fisher and Larry Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
