Deborah L. Almes of Hempfield Township, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, after an extended illness. She was 55.

Miss Almes was born Nov. 23, 1953, in Greenville to Carl E. and Constance Parker Almes.
A 1972 alumna of Hickory High School, Hermitage, she graduated in 1977 from Sharon General Hospital School of Nursing, where she received the Maternity/Child Professional Award. She took courses toward her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the Shenango campus of Penn State University, Sharon.
She was employed at the former Greenville Regional Hospital, now UPMC Horizon, Greenville, from 1977 until her retirement due to illness in March 2001. She worked in various positions at the hospital, including IV therapy, ambulatory surgery, MICU, emergency room and oncology. She was a certified emergency nurse and a certified oncology nurse.
Deborah was a member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville.
She enjoyed reading and knitting.
Surviving are: her father; and a sister, Becky Copenhaver and her husband Steve, all Greenville; two nieces, Tammy Frazier Stilts and her husband Corey, Vandergrift, Pa.; and Amanda Rimer and her companion Jason Baughman, Volant; two nephews, Timothy Swartz and his wife Amanda, Farrell; and Mark Frazier and his wife Lauren, Hermitage; four great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Deborah was preceded in death by her mother; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her aunts, Betty Brown, Jean Allen and Eilleen Walter.
