Parents: John M. Yokum and Malinda H. Dugan. Jacob Lee was 10 years old when his family started the long treck to the new Oregon Territory from Missouri. He was diagnosed with inflammatory rheumatism and not expected to live through the trip, a pine box was brought along for his burial. Along the way, his sister Pollyanna, then 7 years old was bitten by a copperhead snake and died along the trail. The box was used for her and Jake survived the trip. He was crippled as a result of his illness and used a cane to walk with for his whole life.

Jake's first wife was Mary Leneve,born 22 March,1848,Married 20 Oct.1862,she died 5,Jan. 1874. Their children were: James Andrew Jackson 21 Aug.1863,Mary Elizabeth 7 Oct.1865,Malinda Elinor 22 Feb.1868,William Jasper 22 Feb.1870,Martha Jane 6 July 1872. A baby girl who died at birth Jan.1874,this baby is buried with Mary. His second wife was Amelia Muncy,married 17 Aug.1874. They had Lilly Alta 1875,and Henrietta.1876 Henrietta Yokum Baker died 18 March,1902, she is buried in Granite Hill Cemetery,Grants Pass,Oregon, Plot 0/06/L2-1. His daughter Lilly married her sisters widower, Omar Baker and raised her sister's 2 sons. Amelia and Jake were divorced in 1878. He married Sarah Ann Meek born 1858 on the 15th of May 1880. They had Lee Lafayette 7 May,1882, and Jacob De Calb 25 Dec,1883. Sarah and Jacob were divorced. Jacob married his last wife, Margaret Ann Lambert 12th of July,1899 in Grants pass and had no children with her. He owned a boot and Harness shop in Grants Pass with his son Lee from 1888 to 1906 when he turned it over to his son.
