Joyce M. Abernathy, 61, of Columbus died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Mrs. Abernathy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a former member of Order of the Eastern Star and S.O.O.B. She enjoyed crafts and making various things for family members.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial Chapel on 25th Street with Dr. Bill Griffith officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Winchester, Ky., Aug. 8, 1945, Mrs. Abernathy was the daughter of James and Mary B. King Crouch. She married Donald Abernathy Oct. 19, 1963, in Chesterfield.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jack (Juanita) Abernathy of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sylvia (Kevin) Bearry of Seymour; brothers, Douglas Crouch of Alexandria and Larry Crouch of Pendleton; sisters, Juanita Watkins of Marion, Marsha Bathaeur of Anderson and Lena Holaday of Anderson; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Carolyn Sue Abernathy. "Joyce's" first marriage was to "David Greenlee". This marriage was very short.
