W D CARRINGTON SERVICES TO BE HELD IN BUDA
Last Rites For Austin Pioneer, Druggist Set Today
Funeral services for William Duncan Carrington, 88, well known Austin and Buda druggistwho died Friday morning in a local hospital, will be held Saturday at 10 am in the family home at Buda with the Rev Jack Suggs of Buda, assisted by Dr Francis Craig of Lockhart, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Lockhart.
Son of the former Capt. and Mrs L D Carrington of Austin, Carrington was born 8 Feb 1856, and educated in the Austin schools and the Old Military institute, private school for young men, where he studied pharmacy and passed the state board to open a drug store at Buda which he operated until his illness two weeks ago.
At one time he served as engineer on the land office during Gov Ross' Administration. His first wife, the former Mrs Rowena Rainey of Manor, died in the 1880s. Several years later he married Jane McDowell, Lockhart, 5 March 1891. He had been a Mason for a number of years and was past president of the Buda bank.
In addition to his widow, Carrington is survived by two grandsons, Walter Robert, Austin, William Duncan Carrington, Austin; and many nephews and nieces including Robert Emmett Carrington, Mary Carrington, and Mrs Virginia Leberman Christianson, all of Austin.
